    In this presentation, a palladium-catalyzed ligand-controlled diastereodivergent deracemization will be presented, which provides access to highly enantioenriched cis- and trans-cyclobutenes. The expansion of this phenomenon to a highly selective diastereodivergent de-epimerization to afford either cis- or trans-cyclobutenes will also be discussed, as well as the importance of the presence of the carboxylate group and the underlying mechanistic rationale.
